The detailed flow for a new volunteer:
1. register or sign in at
ayso109.org (SportsConnect)
as a primary account holder- If you're not previously registered follow the instructions to create a login and then "Register Myself" as a Volunteer
- Use your legal first and last name
- There's no need for Additional Account Holder Information if you're not sharing your account with someone
2. If not already done, sign up to volunteer for the specific role/season
- example, "Fall Core 2024"
- Then select which divisions your child is in (if registering a youth referee, select any division)
- Click on "View Selected Opportunities" then find "Referee" or "Youth Referee" and Select Role
- If you are signing up for yourself, click "Sign up a registered user"
- If you are signing up for someone else (spouse or child) click "Sign up a new user" then Continue.
- NOTE: your Contact Information is then shown again. Make SURE that you are using your LEGAL first and last name that matches your ID. If you didn't enter your legal names at the beginning, you may edit that here. If you are creating an account for a spouse or child, enter their information. They will be invited to create a SportsConnect account via email.
- View and accept the following (by clicking on box and entering LEGAL first and last name for each):
- AYSO Kids Zone Pledge
- WAIVER, CONSENT, RELEASE, DISCLAIMER AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT
- Note for adults this triggers an email from TheAdvocates@sterlingvolunteers.com (although it says American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO)
- If you can't find it, check your SPAM folder
- Follow the instructions in that email to continue the background check
- COVID-19 Assumption of Risk, Waiver and Release of Liability Agreement
- The Training Items listed with a "+" are things we'll go over next, so you can Continue
3. complete all AYSOU Training
- ayso109.org > AYSOU Tab > Training Library
- AYSO's Safe Haven - Online (under Safe Haven courses)
- CDC Concussion Awareness - Online (under Safe Haven courses)
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest - Online (under Safe Haven courses)
- For U10 and U12 Referees
- Go to "Training Event" and register for the "Regional Referee - Online + In-Person Companion Course"
- Complete the online portion of the course BEFORE the 9/5/2024 online and 9/8/2024 field sessions.
- For U7 and U8 Referees
- Complete the "AYSO 8U Official" course online on AYSOU in "Training Library" -> "Refereeing"
- Attend the Menlo Park U7/U8 Mandatory Referee Meeting on 9/3/2024 at 7pm online -- links will be sent to registered volunteers.
